Job description

The Head of Finance role is a key role in ensuring the overall effectiveness of the finance function and ensuring the day-to-day commercial objectives and financial responsibilities of the company are achieved. As a Head of Finance, you will contribute to building & shaping the finance department throughout the ongoing development of finance processes, insightful reporting and analysis, and efficient and effective workflows. You have a keen interest in SaaS and will have the opportunity to make an impact in all areas of the business. You will be reporting to our CFO, Will Brown. 

Key Responsibilities as a Head of Finance

  • Manage and execute the day-to-day activities of the finance department, including but not limited to, sales & purchase invoices, bank reconciliations, payroll, and payment runs
  • Preparation of month-end management accounts
  • Assist with weekly cash functions, including client invoicing, scheduling payments, oversight of debtors and creditors' positions, and reconciliation of cash transactions.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of appropriate financial processes, controls, and structures to support company growth and drive insight
  • Ongoing reporting against departmental budgets
  • Business partnering across teams providing ongoing insight and support
  • Managing the annual external audit
  • Contribute towards an overall company culture of sharing information and knowledge where there is a focus on solving issues as a team
  • Assisting the CFO with various strategic tasks, including preparation of the annual budgets and forecasts for the organization
  • Design and implementation of processes and systems designed to improve efficiency and accuracy

Job requirements

Skills we are looking for

  • You are a Qualified Accountant (newly qualified will be considered)
  • Knowledge and experience of month-end and management reporting
  • Strong Xero and Excel experience
  • SaaS and/or start-up experience
  • Entrepreneurial, hands-on, can-do attitude, and ability to think outside the box
  • Experience in process improvement
  • Convincing personality and ability to work both independently and as a team-player
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Outstanding attention to detail
  • Organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage their own projects, and allocate their time according to business objectives.
